Starbucks says it closed more than 4,000 U.S. stores as it tried to slow sales and cut its cost per drink.
The chain said it was forced to close stores in New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Boston, Minneapolis, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington, D.C. It said its retail operations in the United Kingdom, France and Germany were also impacted.
It said it will continue to operate its stores through Nov. 5, while it assesses the impact of the shutdowns.
