A former senior U.S. official said the Sierra Mist coffee and desserts giant has suspended its Sierra Mist Co. as part of a regulatory review.
Laurie C. Johnson, an attorney for the firm, said in a letter to Sierra Mist CEO Brian S. Blanco that the company is suspending production of Sierra Mist products due to the ongoing investigation.
The letter was sent on Monday.
Calls for an investigation and punishment of the company are being made on Twitter, where the Sierra Mists account (@sierimists) has more than 10,000 followers.
The Sierra Mist Company is being investigated by the U.N. Human Rights Council for possible violations of the human rights of its employees, according to a report from the agency.
It said in the report that its workers had been harassed and mistreated.
